Carew Named Up and Coming Lawyer by Michigan Lawyers Weekly
Novi, Michigan December 17, 2008 – Varnum attorney Marla Carew has been named an Up & Coming Lawyer of 2008 by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. This year's class includes 10 Michigan lawyers who have practiced for 10 years or less and have distinguished themselves in the practice of law.
Carew focuses her practice on both federal and state and local tax (SALT) law, specifically working in tax controversy and tax planning. She is also experienced in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, securities and general business law.

Carew is active in the legal community as she serves a board member and officer of the Michigan Women's Tax Association and Chair of the State and Local Taxation Committee for the Taxation Section of the State Bar of Michigan. She is a frequent speaker on tax issues, including presentations to Michigan manufacturers, the Novi Chamber of Commerce and certified public accountants on state and federal tax issues. Carew also serves as trustee and Treasurer for the Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings.
