Best Joins Varnum's Detroit Office
Varnum is pleased to announce that attorney Brendan G. Best has joined the firm's Detroit office.
Best has a national practice focused on workouts and bankruptcies. He represents creditors, debtors and other parties in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, out-of-court workouts, distressed restructuring transactions and general insolvencies. He also serves as outside bankruptcy counsel for an international building supply and service company, advises clients on commercial issues with troubled customers and suppliers, and serves as counsel to official unsecured creditors' committees in Chapter 11 cases.
Best is a frequent writer and presenter on bankruptcy and workout issues. He has been in private practice since 2003, most recently a partner at Shafer and Weiner, PLLC in Bloomfield Hills.
He graduated with honors from Wayne State University Law School and The George Washington University, where he received a full tuition merit scholarship. He served as a United States Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana, West Africa for two years prior to law school, and currently serves on the board of the Ally Jolie Baldwin Foundation.
