Baber Named to MLW Class of 2018 Women in the Law

September 7, 2018

Varnum corporate attorney Kim Baber has been named to the Class of 2018 “Women in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. The class will be honored with a luncheon event on Thursday, September 20 at the Detroit Marriott in Troy.

A partner on Varnum’s Business and Corporate Services Practice Team, Baber represents both publicly-traded and private businesses at all stages in a variety of transactional matters and corporate governance issues. She has a strong focus on securities law matters and also has significant experience representing community banks.

Women in the Law honorees are selected based on various criteria including commitment to excellence in the practice of law, leadership in the profession, mentoring, significant contributions of time and effort to volunteer, and/or pro bono activities.

In addition to her legal practice, Baber is an elected member of Varnum’s Policy Committee, the governing body of the firm. In this role, she has been active in the firm’s expansion efforts including the opening of new offices in downtown Detroit and Ann Arbor. She also serves as a member of the firm’s Technology Committee, including a term as chair during the firm’s hiring of new IT leadership and the launch of several key technology-related initiatives.

Within the community, Baber serves as a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes, a role that enables her to help promote entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy and work-readiness to young people in the West Michigan community.
