Allen Appointed Chair of American Bar Association Ethics and Professionalism Committee
Kalamazoo, Michigan June 14, 2010 – Varnum attorney John W. Allen has been appointed chair of the American Bar Association's Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) Ethics and Professionalism Special Standing Committee for 2010/2011.
Members of TIPS work to enhance the ethical practice of tort and insurance law and address issues facing their practice area. To accomplish this, TIPS is divided into committees, including diversity in the profession, government issues and ethics and professionalism.
Allen specializes in business and commercial litigation. He is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. With more than 30 years experience handling legal problems, Allen has written and co-written dozens of articles and books and speaks frequently to business and law groups. He regularly teaches courses in law and trial practice to other lawyers and often serves as an expert witness.
Allen is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and has been listed in the Best Lawyers of America for the past five years. He has served as the Chair of the State Bar of Michigan Ethics Committee and on the Professional Responsibility Committee of the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section.
