Roth Named to Refugee Education Center Board

July 25, 2018

Varnum partner Mike Roth has been named to the Board of Directors for the Refugee Education Center, a nonprofit organization serving refugee children and families in West Michigan.

Founded in 2006 by refugees and immigrants, REC serves more than 600 refugee children and families a year, providing holistic academic and youth support services designed to help families connect more quickly and completely to the West Michigan community. As a member of the REC board, Roth will be responsible for strengthening and expanding advancement efforts. According to the REC, there are approximately 25,000 refugees living in West Michigan, approximately half of whom are children.

Roth is a trial attorney at Varnum, where he focuses his practice on commercial litigation and trademark law. He handles a range of business matters including contract, employment and real estate disputes, as well as membership and shareholder disputes. He serves clients in the Michigan automotive industry as well as manufacturing and professional groups, including physician groups.

In addition to his involvement with REC, Roth serves on the boards of both the Boys and Girls Lacrosse organizations in East Grand Rapids. He also serves as a member of the faculty for the Hillman Advocacy Program, an intensive professional training program for new trial lawyers.
