Varnum trial attorney John Allen recently completed the requirements for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) Family Law Certificate for 2017. The certificate program was developed in cooperation with the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.
Attorneys who receive the certificate must complete a systematic training program including nine seminars. The curriculum combines lectures with discussion and problem solving along with practical seminar materials. The purpose of the additional certificate is to give better assurance to clients that the lawyer has received extensive training in family law.
Allen is a business and commercial litigation attorney with a unique focus on personal legal services, including family law matters such as high-net worth marital estates, business valuation issues, and ‘gray divorce’ for clients over age 50.
With over 40 years’ experience handling legal problems, Allen has written and co-written dozens of articles and books, and speaks frequently to business and law groups. He regularly teaches courses in law and trial practice to other lawyers, and often serves as an expert witness. He is also a certified arbitrator and mediator.
