Varnum Provides Critical Assistance in Terminating Member Benefit Program

A third-party vendor convinced an Association's Board of Directors to offer a retirement benefit program to its members. The benefit program was poorly underwritten and required the Association to pay $30,000 per month to member participants from its general operating budget. The Association faced immediate bankruptcy unless the retirement plan could be quickly terminated. Varnum was able to devise a plan which quickly terminated the benefit program with no adverse action from Association members.
