An association's former accountant and executive director failed to file tax returns in a timely manner and the association was assessed with an unexpected tax penalty. After the board of directors terminated the accountant and executive director, Varnum contacted the IRS and negotiated an agreement which resulted in substantial refunds to the association. Varnum also drafted policies to ensure that the same situation couldn't happen again.
