Potentially Bad Batch of Vegetable Oil Worth $1 Million Returned
Varnum assisted a food processing company which had received a potentially adulterated batch of vegetable oil valued in excess of $1 million. The potential adulteration was caused by elevated levels of pesticides. It was not clear whether or not the oil had been intentionally tampered with. Varnum assisted the client with its potential reporting requirements under the new FDA Reportable Food Registry, the return and disposition of the potentially adulterated food product, and the negotiation of indemnity from the supplier.
