Michigan Wind 2 Spans Three Townships in Sanilac County
Fifty Vestas 1.8 MW wind turbines are being constructed in Sanilac County by Exelon Wind, a division of Exelon Power Company. The project will cover leased properties in Minden, Delaware and Marion townships. With a December completion targeted, most of the components are being shipped to the sites via rail. The project was purchased by Exelon from John Deere Renewables which had previously purchased it from Noble Environmental Power. Exelon Wind is in the process of developing three projects in Michigan totaling 230 MW, all of which have power purchase agreements in place. It plans to have them all operational in the 2012 - 2013 timeframe.
