Amendment to the Liquor Control Code Eliminates "Dueling"

Late last year, the State of Michigan imposed limits on the ability of a wine supplier, manufacturer, outstate seller or master distributor to grant sales territory rights within the same area to more than one wine wholesaler, for any particular brand of wine of the seller. This practice of designating more than one wholesaler for a brand in the territory is known as “dueling.” These limits are similar to the restrictions previously imposed upon manufacturers and sellers of beer.
