Video: Swing to Cure Diabetes Golf Event

The Fifth Annual "Swing to Cure" Golf Event, held May 20, 2013 at the University of Michigan Golf Course, raised over $65,000 for diabetes research. Proceeds from the event benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Michigan Comprehensive Diabetes Center.

Swing to Cure Diabetes was founded by former University of Michigan football player and Varnum attorney Rich Hewlett and his late wife, Chris. The couple began raising money and awareness for juvenile diabetes research after their son, Jeffrey, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 13 years ago.

U of M diabetes researcher Dr. Max Pietropaolo along with Kate Durak Executive Director of the local JDRF Chapter were in attendance at the this year's outing. Additionally, U of M Head Football Coach Brady Hoke attended as well as former Head Coach Gary Moeller. Several former University of Michigan players were also in attendance.
