Varnum is the lead sponsor of the second annual Food Processors Summit at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Michigan on April 27.
The Summit is expected to draw hundreds of food processors from across the state. The day-long event will feature presentations on a variety of topics facing Michigan's food processing industry, including an update on the Farm Bill from a member of Senator Debbie Stabenow's (D-Mich) staff; breakout sessions focused on the baking, dairy, meat and fruits and vegetable industries and a two-part panel on strategy for growth.
Speakers at the Summit will include Keith Creagh, director of Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Don Wyant, director of Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, and Rodney Strokes, director of Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Immediately following the Summit, Varnum will host a reception for attendees and legislators from the Agriculture and Appropriations committees.
Varnum's Food Law group is made up of more than a dozen attorneys with extensive experience in the sophisticated areas of law that apply to food regulation. Attorneys counsel USDA- and FDA-regulated businesses in a wide range of areas, including recall issues, importing and exporting, product labeling, regulatory and crisis management.
