Varnum, MSU Host Conference to Grow Food Business

Varnum and Michigan State University Product Center will host "Making it in Michigan" on Wednesday, October 19 at the Lansing Center.

Making it in Michigan is a conference and trade show to help entrepreneurs and small businesses in the food industry take their concepts and ideas to the marketplace

The conference will feature keynote speaker David Browne, Senior Analyst with the Mintel Syndicated Reports team. Browne will focus on the connection between consumer behavior and attitudes and new natural and organic product innovations. The conference also will offer a series of breakout sessions on topics ranging from How to Start a Business to Legal Issues 101, Regulations and Legal Issues in the Food Business.

Following the conference is the Making it in Michigan trade show, featuring more than 150 vendors showcasing their Michigan-made specialty food products. The trade show is free and open to the public and will run from 12:30 to 4:30.
