Varnum Attorney to Speak at Labor Law & Labor Arbitration Conference

Varnum attorney Carl Ver Beek will speak at the 20th annual Detroit Conference on Labor Law & Labor Arbitration Thursday, August 2 in Dearborn.
The Conference on Labor Law & Labor Arbitration is held in 15 cities across the United States and features a wide range of topics relevant to day-to-day labor relations. Ver Beek will be presenting on "The Employee Defenses: Disparate Treatment, Lax Enforcement, Prior Record & Longevity." He will also serve on a panel discussing "Discipline and Discharge Cases from 2012."
Ver Beek focuses his practice focuses on labor and employment relations and dispute resolution. He has mediated and arbitrated hundreds of cases and is an active member of the American Bar Association, serving on the Council of the Labor and Employment Section and the Council of the Dispute Resolution Section. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 1989 and is a fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
Outside his practice, Ver Beek serves as the chair of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce Foundation Board and has served on several boards, including the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Holland Home and Faith Hospice. Recently, VerBeek was appointed to the Michigan Board of Nursing Home Administrators by Gov. Rick Snyder.
