Varnum attorney Nyal Deems is the spokesperson for a group of business leaders who believe Grand Rapids can become a more competitive community on a national scale through creation of a municipal governing unit.

The group, called One Kent Coalition, made its case before the Kent County Board of Commissioners this week after developing the concept over the past few years.
