Managing Partners Diversity Collaborative Named a Diversity Champion by Corp! Magazine
July 16, 2012
The Managing Partners Diversity Collaborative was selected as a 2012 Diversity Champion Honoree for Corp! Magazine's "Michigan's Salute to Diversity" celebration. Corp! Magazine honors companies and organizations that are leading the way to promote diversity and inclusion. Diversity Champions are non-profit organizations that created or promoted special programs, provided education opportunities or started other initiatives.
The Managing Partners Diversity Collaborative is a formal commitment formed in June 2011 between 12 major Grand Rapids law firms and the Grand Rapids Bar Association to address the challenges of increasing attorneys of color, improving retention and advancement of female attorneys and attorneys of color, and to expand the pipeline of persons of color entering law school and the profession.
"The recognition of Corp! as a 2012 Diversity Champion is a testament to the importance, innovation, and commitment of the Managing Partners Diversity Collaborative," says Joy Fossel, who leads Varnum's Diversity and Inclusion team. "By combining, rather than competing with one another, the 13 member law firms and the Grand Rapids Bar Association, have undertaken to increase both diversity and inclusiveness in a unique and cutting-edge manner. This benefits not just the legal community, but the entire Grand Rapids community as a whole."
The winners of Corp! Magazine's 6th annual awards will be honored on Tuesday August 28, 2012 in Detroit.
