Forum Planned to Discuss Affordable Care Act; Varnum Attorney to Moderate
July 10, 2012
Following the Supreme Court's recent decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act, the Alliance for Health and Grand Valley State University's vice provost for health, Dr. Jean Nagelkerk, are planning a forum to discuss health care reform and its impact on West Michigan.
A panel of experts from various fields – law, insurance, business, and health care – will discuss the Affordable Care Act on July 17, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at Loosemore Auditorium in GVSU's DeVos Center located at 301 W. Fulton Street. There is no charge for the event.
Varnum attorney Carl VerBeek will serve as the panel's moderator. VerBeek has been recognized for his contributions to both Health Care and Labor and Employment Law and has focused his practice on Labor and Employment law, including collective bargaining for manufacturing, health care, education and religious employers in both the private and public sectors. VerBeek has provided long time service to the local health care community through his involvement on the boards of several organizations, such as the Health and Human Resources Committees of both Michigan Chamber of Commerce and Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, Children's Healthcare Access Program, Holland Home, Faith Hospice, and Kent Health Plan Corporation.
