Director of the Office of the Great Lakes Patty Birkholz Speaks at Varnum’s Water Law Seminar

Newly-appointed Director of the Office of the Great Lakes Patty Birkholz was a featured speaker at Varnum's 6th Annual Water Law Seminar last week. Birkholz addressed issues influencing the plans and priorities for the office under the new administration. Read more about Birkholz's speech.
The seminar also featured a panel that explored the process of hydraulic fracturing in natural gas recovery. The panel was made up of Hal Fitch, Chief, Office of Geological Survey, Department of Environmental Quality; Wayne Pennington, professor of Geophysical Engineering and Edward Hinchey, ERM Team Leader for Shale Bed Methane/Marcellus Shale Practice Area.
Varnum and Grand Valley State University's Annis Water Resource Institute hosted the 6th Annual Water Law Seminar Tuesday, February 22 at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. Topics presented also included Wetlands Permitting and Compliance, Emerging Contaminants in Water Resources and Stormwater Permitting and Compliance.
