Bergh Named 2012 Five Star Wealth Manager
June 7, 2012
Varnum attorney Thomas H. Bergh has been named a Five Star Wealth Manager for the third consecutive year. He is resident in the firm's Metro Detroit office, where he helps clients meet the legal challenges involved in maintaining and growing their wealth and business interests, and in efficiently transitioning those interests to their families.
Bergh, who in addition to maintaining his own practice serves as Chair of Varnum's Estate, Tax & Benefit practice group, has helped clients with estate and business succession planning, asset protection and tax issues for more than 30 years. He has a special focus on counseling closely-held business owners on forming and growing their businesses, as well as on designing and implementing succession and exit strategies.
The Five Star program is the largest and most widely published wealth manager award program in North America. Candidates for the Five Star program are evaluated against 10 objective criteria, including retention rates, client assets administered, and regulatory history. The resulting list of 2012 Five Star Wealth Managers is a select group, representing less than 7 percent of the wealth managers in the Detroit area.
Outside his practice, Bergh is a board member of the Chamber Music Society of Detroit and the Michigan Council on Economic Education. He also serves on the Planned Giving advisory boards for the Community Foundation of Southeastern Michigan, the Salvation Army and Wayne State University.
