A midsize vertical axis wind generator company has moved from Brighton to the GVSU Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Center incubator space in Muskegon. McKenzie Bay International Ltd. has its first 200 kW WindStor wind turbine up and running in Ishpeming. The product will be manufactured by Clean Green Energy LLC of Brighton. McKenzie Bay received a grant of $620,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy in September to accelerate commercialization of the WindStor.
