    As Gov. Rick Snyder's energy policy forum process kicks off, one question that has to be on the table is "What does Michigan plan to do with its coal-fired generation?"  Ontario has asked that question and has answered by announcing the retirement of all of its coal fired generation by the end of 2014. Should Michigan follow this lead, understanding that it currently has a different generation mix?

  • Pure Michigan Solar Panel

    Contractors Building Supply of Copemish  has signed an agreement to produce solar panel in its facility. The joint venture agreement is with Sonali Energees USA LLC, the New Jersey based subsidiary of India-based Sonali Energees. The agreement calls for the Michigan company to be the exclusive manufacturer and assembler of Sonali solar panels for the U.S.

  • Readying Michigan to Make Good Energy Decisions

    February 8, 2013

    The public input process announced in Appendix A of Governor Snyder’s Special Message on Energy and the Environment now has a website. The website has 89 questions, and asks for commenters to submit questions, information, reports and suggestions on what information is needed to make good energy decisions. In addition, seven 1 PM to 5 PM public forums have been set to receive information.

  • Quackenbush/Bakkal to Prepare Energy Report

    Appendix A to Gov. Rick Snyder’s November energy/environment message sets forth a process for energy information gathering needed “regarding our energy choices in 2015.” Entitled Readying Michigan to Make Good Energy Decisions, it appoints Steve Bakkal, head of the Michigan Energy Office, and John Quackenbush, Chair of the Michigan Public Service Commission, to “convene a series of public participation opportunities.”
