Addition to Battery Park in Midland
Dow Kokam will be adding 60,000 square feet to its Midland Battery Park. This will be used for the production of casings for the company's lithium-ion cells and battery management system. Construction starts this month, with production expected in the first quarter of 2013. This is an addition to the 400,000 square foot facility for which construction started in 2010. The Midland Battery park, which currently employs 95, is schedule to open officially this summer. The batteries are already being used to power electric motorcycles. Dow Kokam is a joint venture of the Dow Chemical Co., TK Advanced Battery, LLC — based in Lees Summit, Missouri — and Groupe Industriel Marcel Dassault, a French company.
