New Website Provides Information on Fracking Fluid Constituents and Local Wells

May 23, 2011

A newly established website, FracFocus.org, a self-described “chemical disclosure registry,” presents considerable information about the chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing fluids, and even about individual wells, beginning with those drilled in 2011. The website is a joint project of the Ground Water Protection Council and the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, organizations whose members are made up of state government administrative and regulatory agencies. The information on the web site was voluntarily disclosed by participating oil and gas companies.
