Experience
Joe is a partner in the Corporate Practice Group. His practice primarily consists of general corporate and securities matters of all types, along with certain tax matters. He focuses on counseling corporate clients on business organization, governance, mergers and acquisitions, as well as state and federal securities laws for private and public companies. Joe is also involved in tax planning.

Professional Activities
Joe belongs to the Lawyer Referral Informational Services Panel. In 2008, he was elected to the firm's Policy Committee and was appointed chairman of the firm's Quality Control Committee. He is a member of both the State Bar of Michigan and the Grand Rapids Bar Association.
Community Activities
Joe serves as the Secretary to the Board for NewNorth, and is a member of the Catholic Lawyers Association of West Michigan. He is a parishioner at the Cathedral of St. Andrew where he sits on the Parish Council and the Finance Council. For a number of years, Joe has participated in the Grand Rapids Community Foundation's Social Venture Investors. He also coaches high school students in the "We the People . . . the Citizen and the Constitution" national competition, and has coached several youth travel ice hockey teams.
